VIOFO A229 Plus 3 Channel Dash Cam

I'm no stranger to dash cams nor the VIOFO brand. Yet the majority of my setups were rarely true multi-channel setups and if they were, the resolution on the rear cameras were mediocre at best even though they were recording at 1080p. Saw the VIOFO A229 Plus 3-Ch sporting the 2K Sony Starvis 2 Image Sensors on-sale telling myself “it’s time”. Installation was fairly quick-n-easy using the appropriate VIOFO HK4 Hardwire Kit. The setup with the front, rear, & interior camera’s, keeps all recordings in-sync. Both Front-n-rear cameras record in 2K (1080p interior), Mount w/GPS, voice prompts & commands, fast 5GHz WiFi connectivity, app compatible, etc. I paired my A229 Plus with the optional CPL filters front-n-rear which I consider “must haves”. So far so good in terms of the recorded footage, and performance, but haven’t owned it overly long. But if the VIOFO A229 Plus 3-Ch is anything like my other VIOFO’s, we’ll be super happy. Highly recommended for sure!

Awesome purchase

Works as advertised. Lots of settings to setup to get working exactly as you want with auto hdr/60fps mode, parking mode etc. Would highly recommend. I used the interior camera as a baby monitor by purchasing and usb type c extension cord and works great. Can see the baby while driving in live mode and also record front and back!

Value for money and great customer service.

Everything is working perfectly, and I’m very satisfied with the performance and features of the unit. After reviewing series of units, this is for me the most perfect for its price and the customer service is really great. VALUE FOR MONEY!

Excellent quality

This dash camera set is all plastic but feels well made and well designed for daily use, with simple controls and a rotating rear. It has a wedge design, not too ugly but also acts as a deterrent. The rear and interior are standard sized 'barrel' design, it works as intended with buttons and ports for power and video. Each piece is plastic but they are well made with a good set of lens on all the cameras. The design style of this dashcam is definitely on the uglier side, but safety first, and is a good visible deterrant. The resolution at 1080p is clear and sharp for the interior IR, and most will be content with the footage in both sunny and dark conditions. The front and rear are 2K and is definitely 2K, with STarvis 2 sensor, but plates are mostly visible when nearby. From afar its still blurry but the cars on the road is easily identifiable by model. The mount is the weakest point of this camera, as it is not as firm and rigid as I would like. It works well enough.

Instructions need detail, but otherwise great product

Simple enough to use without any prior electrical experience, I've already installed a second one so my wife and I have one in our vehicles. IMPORTANT: if you choose to hardwire your dashcam, please be aware that only the pin on the far side of the add a fuse adapter is directly wired, so be sure to match that side to the side of your fuse slot that gets power. Some vehicles only power over putting off each fuse. This information isn't in the instructions, and I want aware of it until I started troubleshooting. Otherwise I'd give this product 5 starts
